I've been a frequent patron of Alamo and each time I fall more and more in love with it. The food is some of the best in Winchester, the bartenders are knowledgeable about their beer, the beer itself is composed of fantastic staples and great seasonal picks. Alamo goes all out to make their environment inviting, from having specialty drinks for big premieres, to fun special feature events. Also, let me say how much I love the $3 second-chance showings. I don't know how the waitstaff does it, but they do, and they do it very well. The managers are excellent and are completely receptive to suggestions on how to make things better for everyone. Alamo, keep doing what you're doing. This place is top rate in my book. — Anonymous Reviewer

My wife and I have visited the Alamo on 4 different occasions and each time we had Brittany as our server. She is little and sweet with a cute little twang in her voice. Since our very first visit Brittany has been attentive and given us the best service we have ever had at any restaurant. If you visit the Alamo request this server. She took our orders, brought our food, she did it all with a great helpful attitude and in a timely manner. Alamo management, hold on to this girl. She is by far the best employee and made all our experiences amazing. We can't wait to come back and hopefully Brittany will be our server again!! — Anonymous Reviewer

The Alamo is a great place to watch movies, but that's where the good stops. They really need to work on the restaurant part because everything comes out backwards and at different times. During a busy showing, you will wait forever for your food and drinks. I will say the food is pretty good though, service is just not. — Anonymous Reviewer

First I want to say that I've been to the Alamo before and have eaten there before. The convenience is nice but I doubt that we'll eat there again. Both of us had unsatisfactory meals today and at the price of the food, makes it harder to swallow. I love the Alamo for movies and the large refillable drinks are great. Next time we'll stick to popcorn. — Anonymous Reviewer

First off I have to say that this is absolutely the right place to see a movie in Winchester. I will not go to any other theatre. Since this is a FOOD review site I am giving the food 2 stars. I have tried eating multiple times but the food is not good. The pizza is straight out of the microwave. The chicken strips have thick hard breading and are very salty. The fries are soggy. Also have tried buffalo chicken sandwich - just don't. The staff within the theatre area are mixed, some are abrupt and some are friendly. Everyone I have encountered at the bar has been extremely friendly and helpful. I love free beer samples! On a positive note, the soda is huge and refill is free. The popcorn is average, nothing special but nothing to complain about. I love that you can have a beer or two while watching the movie. — Anonymous Reviewer

A respectable pizza, mediocre (read dry) burger and wonderful thick-cut fries. But DON'T come here looking for a 2nd beer or to order anything else after your first shot. That's right, you get one shot. A waiter comes by before the show and takes your order. Your food comes out and that's it! Waiter is not seen for the rest of the evening. Want dessert? Want ketchup, mustard or mayo? Want another drink? You're outta luck...waiter's job is done and will not be seen again until they want payment. Much is the pity, 'cause it's a great concept. — Anonymous Reviewer

I gave this place such a low score because the service is what kills it. The atmosphere is fantastic, the food is delicious, and the pricing is great. HOWEVER, the service is really lacking. They claim to seat people 30 minutes before showtime, so that you can place your order, but this is not true at all. You are lucky most of the time to get in 10 minutes before a show starts. Because of this, by the time your food finally comes, the movie is usually more than half over. We went and saw "The Rite", on Saturday night, at the 10:15 showing. A line started forming at 9:15 which we got in, and it quickly became massive. We did not enter the movie theater until 10:10. I swear. They said it was from having to clean the theater, which is understandable, but they need to schedule the shows differently so that people can have longer to place their orders, and get them in time for the movie to start. When my wife and I got our food, it was almost 11:15 and the movie was almost over. That much of a wait time, coupled with everything else, is unacceptable. Management needs to change this. — Anonymous Reviewer

The food is all right, pricey. I really do not like having the servers interrupt my film experience. I'm not crazy about the lights being on all the time. The staff is incredibly friendly and fun; they're terrific. I like the special events. I like the management. It's great to get a beer with a movie. But the food (flavor and portions and pricing) could be improved a bit. Maybe less portions, smaller portion options, and therefore lower pricing. — Anonymous Reviewer

I have to say as a movie theater it is awesome. at least when you compare it to the other local theater choices. Especially awesome if you want to have a few drinks. But as for the food ... it is really horrible. I have tried a variety of menu items and nothing has been good. The one thing I am okay with is the french fries. My order has been wrong almost every time and it is hard to tell right away because you are eating in the dark. I say eat dinner some where else and save room for popcorn at the Alamo. It is pricey, but there are lots of coupons out there. — Anonymous Reviewer

We went to Alamo for the first time last night. We had a wonderful server, the seats were great. The only "complaint" I would have is about the food. It is hard to eat in the dark, and we ordered well before the movie started, thinking our food would arrive before the lights went out. It didn't. I ordered a pizza, and I would recommend the kitchen staff learn to "balance" crust, sauce and cheese. There was too much cheese, and my pizza, which was a simple Margherita, was piled with so much chopped basil I could barely taste anything else. I took one bite of the side salad and pushed it aside. The salad is enormous and came with a tiny amount of dressing. Our server was no where to be found to ask for more dressing, and the dressing itself tasted like water. My husband's burger was over cooked. The Potato Skins we ordered as an appetizer could have used some salt, but again, they were dropped "on the run" without salt or pepper and we had no way of getting a server to bring salt, pepper, or extra sour cream. I understand that the family who opened Alamo is primarily experienced in "fast" food. I think their kitchen has a way to go before the food is worth the price. We will go back again, but this time we will know to ask in advance for the basics such as salt, pepper, napkins, and plastic ware. We will probably stick to appetizers instead of ordering full meals as well. It was nice to watch a movie while sipping a glass of wine, but the "dining experience" was not pleasant. — Anonymous Reviewer

I really have to laugh at some of the low ratings for the Alamo. Almost all of them say "slow service". What people fail to realize is that this is a not a fast food place, it is an experience. If you want to get your food in 10 minutes, then this is certainly not the place for you to come, but that is not the point of the Drafthouse. The entire concept is built on dinner and a movie, and as such, the service is going to be paced that way. I have been there 5 times now,and everytime have been more and more impressed with both the friendliness of the staff, the food, and the entire movie watching experience. Someone said that the people just drop your check off quickly. Well, would you rather they just stand there and block you watching the movie? Someone else complained about the high prices. Umm. what???? The tickets to the movie are CHEAPER than the mall, the drinks and candy are cheaper (and you get free refills on drinks) and the menu is priced below or on par with any other family style place in town. If you are looking for a great evening out with friends, or for a date, or just to spend some fun time with the family, this is THE place to go in Winchester. — Anonymous Reviewer

Went to Alamo with friends to watch Iron Man 2. It was a great time. I had a vanilla milkshake, a burger, and some popcorn. The service was very quick and the food was just what I wanted. I have never seen such large fries but I loved them. Overall great experience and will return soon — Anonymous Reviewer
