My colleagues and I had lunch here on Friday. The menu focuses on fresh, healthful food items with some interesting vegetarian and grain-free choices not commonly found elsewhere, such as chicken or seafood with zucchini or squash noodles. The Mediterranean salad was a perfect blend of flavors with falafel, hummus, tzatziki, and tabbouli made with quinoa instead of bulgur atop a bed of greens. A tomato-phone, I asked for the tabbouli on the side and didn't have to work too hard to dodge the tomato bits while spooning the mixture onto my salad. The interior is spartan with very basic chairs and tables, which is a good thing. When doing a quick workday lunch, I'd rather spend money on delicious, healthful food than decor. The downtown walking mall needs more distinctive yet affordable restaurants like Fresco Kitchen instead of yet another Mexican, Thai, or bar restaurant.
Food here is freshly prepared and you can taste the freshness in every bite. It's also an extremely healthy alternative to the other nearby restaurants, without skimping on the flavor! I tried today's special, some butternut squash noodles, spinach, bacon, and feta cheese for lunch. It was delectable. I could eat it every day! I've also had their turkey sandwich with avocado. The turkey is thick and flavorful. Best turkey sandwich I've ever ordered! Try Fresco Kitchen; you will not be disappointed!
This is a delightful little gem on the pedestrian mall in Old Town Winchester. My roasted turkey on sour dough was delicious with fresh avocado, tomato, provlone and a side of roasted sweet potatoes. I sat at the bar and enjoyed conversation while my sandwich was being made. I regret I didn't go back for crab cakes the next day. Fresh and airy with a menu that has something for everyone.
