I was in ichiban tonight 12/31/23. The manager/ owner wanted us to give up one of our reserved seats and squeeze one of our group in on the corner to make room for a couple who didn — Anonymous Reviewer

We hadn't been in years and most likely will not return. We visited for dinner on 11/30/18. They were not busy as there were multiple tables with no guests. The cook rushed through the cooking process and didn't perform the usual Hibachi tricks to entertain the customers. My girlfriend and I ordered chicken and scallops and my brother and his girlfriend ordered medium-rare steak. Everything was overcooked and not seasoned properly. The cook just used a bunch of soy sauce and soaked everything in it. The steak came out medium-well, shrimp was hard as rubber, chicken was tasteless, and the scallops were burnt. We couldn't eat the food so we asked our waitress, for her a manager. We explained to the manager how bad the food was and he yanked my girlfriend's plate away and walked away. When he came back, he had removed only her order from the bill. So, we complained again that none of it was good which is why we weren't eating it. He took the bills back. During this time, the waitress came over to our table and berated us out loud that the cook was the best cook they had and we were wrong. She also insisted that she knows us and we always come there and complain even though we have not been there in many years and haven't complained before that night. When the manager came back, we complained about our waitress but he didn't believe us or care what happened. I don't know who the owner is of Ichiban but I wish they would reach out to me. The waitress needs to be fired immediately, the manager needs to go through customer service training, and the cook needs to take some cooking lessons. Very disappointed in this restaurant! — Anonymous Reviewer

Really good place to eat. Always a busy and rushed place during special events/holidays. But is a great place if you are off holiday time. Sushi is fantastic, not refridgerated. Only thing not giving it 5 stars is price. A bit high for hibatchi. — Anonymous Reviewer

Great menu selection, quality of food is definitely spot on, My family comes here for birthdays since the prices on their menu can be a bit obscene. Love this great little Hibachi grill. — Anonymous Reviewer

Ate there this week. You have the fake cooking show...that does nothing for me. Then bland, over salted meats cooked too much to blah. Nothing to return there for. — Anonymous Reviewer

I was with a group of eight at Ichiban recently. After dinner, as we were finishing our drinks, the manager asked us to leave. Other parties were waiting for our table. We were not sitting there more than 5 - 10 minutes.

I always thought that Ichiban was too rushed, but this was icing on the cake. But apparently this is what Ichiban is all about.

Anyway, you obviously can decide for yourself about Ichiban but I wont go back.

I'm more of a sushi nut for this place. The chirashi is superb, filling, and lovely. The salmon is mouthwatering. Sunomono is wonderful! Love the sweet tartness. Since the old sushi chef left, i have not order the beef tataki. The sauce the new guy uses is not nearly as satifying. I could drink the old sauce. Thats the only complaint i have with them! — Anonymous Reviewer

This place is absolutely amazing. My girlfriend and I go there for all of our special occasions. We get the Filet and Lobster and you can't get this quality anywhere for under $30 a plate. The staff and management are friendly and we can't wait to go back !!! Would suggest to everyone even if you don't prefer japanese food. We're in love !! — Anonymous Reviewer

Don't let one or two bad reviews discourage you...they just don't know what great food is. Our office eats there regularly and they are consistant. The food is out of this world especially their fried rice. We all eat there for the wonderful food but adding talented chefs to the mix...well that's just a plus! This is one of the best places to eat in Winchester and I stand behind them and their food 110%...you will NOT be disappointed! — Anonymous Reviewer

I love this place, when it's good. It's never been bad, but they aren't consistant. Sometimes you can tell the chef just wants to get through the meal and move on to the next table. When it's good, it's AWESOME, when its not, it's not. — Anonymous Reviewer

Ichiban means "number one" in Japanese. The number one is how I rated this out of five. This is anything but authentic. The food is always mediocre at best the sushi is extremely warm, the sake is always overheated. This is absolutely the worst Japanese steak house that I've ever been to. Save your money, waste some gas and travel towards DC to find a decent Japanese steakhouse. — Anonymous Reviewer
