Our last few trips there were not good so we gave them one last try. Yahtsee! Evidently there was a shakeup because everything was perfect from the greeting, service, food and attitude. Our server knew the menu and made some key recommendations. The garden salad was dressed with champagne vinaigrette that was incredible. I ordered the strip steak that was very flavorful and tender and she got the filet that was also top shelf. The only thing I would change is making the vegetable of the day something different from california veggies with broccoli and carrots that have been on the menu forever. Also the prices are a bit high. We spent $85 and only had one drink and one dessert. Not a place we can afford often but only special occasions. — Anonymous Reviewer

Visited IJ Canns on Valentines Day. I normally try to avoid restaurants this day but didn't feel like cooking. I was pleasantly surprised. Our server was attentive. We ordered pork chops (very good, esp. the cranberry reduction) and a grilled chicken salad (champagne dressing to die for). I have had this salad multiple times, tonite it was disappointing as there were hardly any of the toppings on the salad, mostly just lettuce. For $14 I do expect a generous salad. Overall a good experience and recommended. — Anonymous Reviewer

Ambiance is nice, staff friendly and professional but the mahi I got had an unappealing sauce, potatoes were bland and could have made it all for half of what they charged. — Anonymous Reviewer

The service was awful. Food was relatively good, but did not make up for the bad service. The hostess seated us at a table in the corner and when we asked if we could sit at a booth, she told us their dinner rush was about to begin so that was not possible (we were a party of two and only the larger booths were available), so this was somewhat understandable - except that she then proceeded to seat three other couples in the larger booths while we were there. Our waiter was friendly, but not quite with it and rather slow. I will not be returning here and would not recommend the place to anyone. — Anonymous Reviewer

I went last Sat. night. Was in the mood for a good burger (love their smokehouse burger) I was really hungry and ended up with a $36, 22oz steak! Was cooked perfectly and sooooooo good. It came with cooked carrots, green beans, and the best garlic mashed potatoes! My girlfriend got the Tilapia, but I was so busy devouring that steak I don't know how good it was. She is picky and she didn't complain so it must have been pretty good! Was the steak worth $36? That is for you to decide. What would you pay for a HUGE steak that tastes delicious?! I'll have another soon! Oh yea! That steak had a HUGE bone in it that my dog still loves me for giving her! — Anonymous Reviewer

I have been here twice now and I feel that it is so overpriced for the quality of food you get. Service is mediocre, calamari is over breaded, burgers are dry. I won't be back. — Anonymous Reviewer

I've had several good meals at IJ Canns, but for some reason IJ "Cann't" cook a steak to order. The first time I ordered a sirloin "medium" it came out bloody rare. I sent it back for more cooking and it returned not much closer to "medium" than before. The last time (and I mean the last) I thought I had their system down -- order one level of doneness higher than you want. My "medium well" sirloin came back cooked dry, tough and gamey (that liver-like smell and taste you get from pot roast). The doneness chart on their menu suggests that this restaurant has an attitude about steak -- it advises customers who like their meat well done to "order chicken." $18 buys a lot of very good sirloin at my local supermarket, which I can cook they way I want. Either IJ Cann's needs to get over itself and start listening to their customers, or start using a meat thermometer. — Anonymous Reviewer

Lunch today was delicious and the service was excellent! We both ordered soup and sandwiches. The cheese and spinach soup and the chicken, sausage, and bean soup. The spinach soup was very rich and creamy while the chicken/sausage and bean soup was very savory. The chicken/sausage and bean soup was a great combination of flavors and left me wishing I had ordered a bowl and not a cup. The sandwiches selected were the chicken salad and ham from their lunch specials menu. Both were very delicious. The ham sandwich had a vinaigrette dressing on it with fresh mozzarella that was simply wonderful! — Anonymous Reviewer
