First the positive. Nice old mansion turned into restaurant. My server was very attentive. Now, the not so positive. The food was spectacularly awful. Started with the stuffed mushrooms. Two tasted like wet sawdust and two tasted really sharp--like the crab was too old. The caesar salad was fine, but very boring. Then the entree. The server suggested that I cut into the steak to make sure it was cooked to my satisfaction. Good thing she suggested this, since it was raw and cold. I ordered medium rare, not straight out of the freezer. there was no broiled crust on the outside. the outside was brown. It was not that great of a piece of meat, certainly not STEAKHOUSE quality. I think the vegetables had been fresh sometime in the last 24 hours, but they were tasteless mush by the time I got them. The baked potato had been baked early this morning or last night. the baked potato was accompanied by two plastic cups one had a tablespoon of margarine (not butter) and the other plastic cup had a tablespoon of sour cream. I was offered a complimentary dessert, since my steak had to be sent back and cooked more. I chose the Salt du leche tart. It was served in a metal tin and it looked and tasted like they bought it at Costco. Insanely sweet. All I could taste was sugar and nothing else. If I had not been on expense account I would have been totally pissed off. Instead I tipped my server well and left as soon as my last bite. My advice is to stay faraway from Joe\'s Steakhouse.
We came here for a birthday dinner with about 10 people and had a reservation so one would think that they would have prepared for the party. Every single persons plate had something wrong with it. First it started out that they had burned someone's fish which caused a hold up of waiting 50 plus minutes for our food, then they brought out 4 of our guests plates and left the other guests waiting 10-15 minutes longer for their food. The people who did get their food said it was stone cold all of it. They said that they were waiting on the ribs to be cooked longer because they were cold in the middle which tells me they weren't fresh and were frozen. Also when they finally brought the rest of the tables food guests ended up not getting the right sides they ordered. I got rice that was not even cooked it was still hard, and I didn't even order rice I ordered a baked potato which they came out and told me that they burned it and it was too crunchy. Then when we spoke up about everything that was wrong all they offered was a piece of each desert for our whole party to share as a whole and didn't even give us all small plates to eat off of. They have just lost 10 costumers that will never ever be returning again. They killed the birthday dinner for my mother in law. I think the server was so embarrassed after he explained what was going on that later he had one of the kitchen staff come and let us know. I felt so bad for our server because this is only kitchen and managements fault. They blamed it on being busy and there was only 3 other small tables and one other table that had like 7 or 8 people in the party. This is just the worst experience any of us have had dining out. Not to mention they had no hand soap in the woman's or men's restroom, even after one of our guests have told them, they never put any in their all night. Very disappointing. For the prices of the food we were just appalled.
Utilized the coupon of buying one getting one for free...great deal. Steak was ok as best...I ordered it and add on crab cake that was fantastic....in fact, I wanted to send back the steak for another crab cake....I do not get it....steak place that is average. All being said....the coupon and crab cake made it worthwhile and I will be back to try the cakes one more time...for sure.
