On Monday, September 26, 2016, I had an afternoon snack at Sweet Frog Yogurt, 2029 South Pleasant Valley Road, in Winchester, Virginia. The location is in the Pleasant Valley Marketplace, near Staples.
Hours are Sunday, 1:00 PM-9:00 PM; Monday-Thursday, 12:00 PM-9:00 PM; Friday& Saturday, 12:00 PM-10:00 PM. The phone number is (540) 662-4102, and the Web site is www.sweetfrog.com.
This was my first visit, and was prompted by receiving a gift card for my 96th birthday. There were five wooden lawn chairs on the sidewalk near the entrance, which did not have a vestibule. Inside was a single room with a counter partway back on the right with a checkout station at the front end.
The counter was angled toward the back. I discovered that Sweet Frog is a self-service operation. At the back end of the counter, you choose a 12-, 16-, or 24-inch cup or an edible waffle dish to use, and fill it with the flavors of frozen yogurt you decide on from a bank of seven dispenser stations with three flavors apiece.
You then move to the toppings bar for a choice of sauces and solid toppings. Finally, you place the filled cup on a scale to be weighed at the checkout for pricing. Napkins, spoons, etc. are available near the front of the right wall. There are too many yogurt flavors and toppings to list here, but the Web Site has menu links for these.
The floor is hardwood, and the ceiling is white. Lighting is by hanging white globes. A bench along the left wall offers seating at eight tables that have facing black metal chairs with pink cushions. There are seven round tables along the center of the room with another round table at the front window.
There was no TV screen, but local Country Music Station WUSQ 102.5 FM was almost loud enough to be intrusive. The place was clean and the ambiance was good. You can buy Sweet Frog tee-shirts, hats, accessories, and toys.
I used a 12-ounce cup and chose a single flavor of frozen yogurt, New York Cheesecake, although it would have been possible to mix several. At the toppings bar I selected Peanut Butter Chips and added Caramel Sauce. I don’t eat a lot, and my gift card was charged only $2.82. I have a balance of $7.18 remaining on my card, and will definitely return for encores.
Same comment as the person below me. Yogurt was fine but the place was so dirty. Ended up taking my yogurt to go and probably won't be back.
The yogurt was good! My complaint was the cleanliness. 2 tables were occupied, I was the third. Every empty table in there was dirty. The man behind the counter was on his smart phone when he wasn't at the register. How could he not notice how filfthy it was in the dining area? I was very disappointed at the inattention to this. I was always trained to clean tables and floors when the counter was slow. Hope they "clean up" their act.
