We went here for our 10th anniversary with some very dear friends. Not sure I've had a more enjoyable evening. We started with the appetizer of house-cured meats...boar, duck, venison and beef (I think), sliced razor-thin, just slightly salty, creamy marbling, and pure perfection. My wife had lobster. What could go wrong? Are you tired of house-made pastas being gummy and starchy? Not here... house-made pastas are light and snappy, with just the right sauces in the right amounts. I believe there's a reason that there're not even salt and pepper on the tables...They're not needed...Franco's cooking is flawless, and the food a finished product when it hits the table. Steak and veal porterhouse were superb and nicely marbled. They served a fall vegetable soup (on the house) that made me just want to dunk my face into the bowl. Personable and knowledgeable waiter made the evening even better. Franco and Marcella are just delightful, with Franco singing my wife's favorite opera at our table. I travel the country for a living. I spend about a quarter of my life in restaurants, and don't think I've had more all-round good food, atmosphere and hospitality. Well, at least in the top five. It ain't cheap, but allow yourself this indulgence! — Anonymous Reviewer

I have thought that this is consistently the best restaurant in Winchester. The food is great and so is the service. I took my wife there for her 40th birthday and they made it extra special. One way in which I judge restaurants are whether they are worth the money they charge and this is one that certainly is worth the money. I highly recommend! — Anonymous Reviewer

Have eaten here countless times. It is always expensive yet I always feel it is a "value". Always our first choice! Know European chefs who think it is best restaurant on east coast. Had party of 25 there for lunch on Christmas Eve and all had delicious meals. Had special needs child that was overloaded by large crowd; they invited him to sit and color at the bar away from the noise, allowing the parents to enjoy their meals. Basically had an on-site sitter; the parents were overjoyed with the thoughtfulness! Other parents said they had dinner with their infants at Violino and the staff walked the floor with the baby when they were not busy and allowed them to eat! LOVE this place. Upscale but very, very, very family oriented...and EXTRAORDINARILY prepared meals!! — Anonymous Reviewer

Hit and miss. Food, ok, service last visit was so horrible we vowed never to return. Olive Garden is 20x better for service and food quality, not to mention price. — Anonymous Reviewer

ALWAYS has been and always will be the best of the best Italian food that Winchester has to offer. From the quaint atmosphere, the warm and friendly staff, to the food - top quality! I have hosted several dinners here, and everyone walks away from the place raving about the entire experience. — Anonymous Reviewer

We didn't have a problem with the food but the server was not very friendly - our daughter tried to order spaghetti and meatballs but she was informed that meatballs aren't authentic Italian and hence not served. Then she tried to order chicken piccata (it wasn't on the menu but they had veal piccata and chicken dishes so she was hopeful the chef might be able to work it out ...) but was informed that although he could 'try' to see if it were possible could she just order the Chicken parmigiana? Although our daughter has worked as a hostess in a restaurant in MD and knows that chefs can sometimes be eccentric, he didn't even try to accommodate simple requests. We've been back to Winchester several times since then and haven't returned. — Anonymous Reviewer

My wife and I love Violino as much for the wonderful food as for the wonderful and friendly proprietors and staff. Thank you for bringing delicious, fresh, local food to those of us who have been fortunate enough to enjoy your Ristorante! — Anonymous Reviewer

We went here for the first time a couple weeks ago. We just loved it. I ordered the ravioli and it was fantastic. They have an extensive wine list, and make great wine paring suggestions. We also sat outside and it was a beautiful night. Perfect date night restaurant! — Anonymous Reviewer
