Sona Restaurant Review - January 22, 2012

Sona Restaurant - Vote 1 - Great food but WORST service I've ever had! It was as if the staff had no idea what they were doing....after 30 minutes we had to ask for our glass of water, we watched our appetizer be given to another table who JUST SAT DOWN, and after an hour of waiting as no one checked on us we waived down our waitress and she wanted us to re-place our order b/c they lost it...REALLY? So as we got up to leave our waitress said loudly "you need to pay for your drinks." I guess the whole $3 for our 2 cokes was worth more to them than us walking out due to our order being lost and NO ONE checking on us OR apologizing. NEVER will we return...and that's too bad because their food is delish!

Sona Restaurant Review - November 06, 2011

Sona Restaurant - Vote 1 - Delicious food, HORRIBLE (customer) service. I've eaten there quite a few times and the food is consistently wonderful but after our experience last night, I will NEVER go back and NEVER recommend anyone to go: After waiting 25 minutes, we had to flag our waitress down to inquire about our appetizers. She said she'd check on them. 10 minutes later a different waitress asked if everything was ok. After explaing her it has now been 35 minutes and we still have not received our appetizers, we requested our appetizers to be brought out and meals to be boxed to go. It is now 8:45 and a third waitress FINALLY comes around to fill our water glasses. We ask her to bring our appetizers out along with our meal boxed and 5 minutes later she brings a whole meal out...UN-BOXED. She explains how it was already plated when she went back and started defending herself and the kitchen and then tried to point out how busy they were. Any kitchen should be set up to accommodate the amount of seats that are in the restaurant. instead of apologizing and taking it back...only to realize it wasn't even our food. As we got up from our table and walked to the front, everyone could hear her say "You still need to pay for your drinks." Gladly we would pay. As we got to the front, our initial waitress asked "How can I help you?" as if she had no idea what was wrong. She said "Don't worry about paying for your drinks. Just don't tell anyone." The least they could do is comp our drinks and an apology would have been nice too. It is very clear there is no organization and communication between any of the wait staff along with poor timing skill in the kitchen. Who knows how long we would have actually sat there if we had never spoken up. No delicious food is worth this much trouble.

Sona Restaurant Review - October 23, 2011

Sona Restaurant - Vote 5 - I've dined at Indian restaurants where you get restaurant food. I've been to ones where it tastes like cafeteria food. But at Sona, it's like you've been lucky enough to be invited over to someone's house for dinner. The dishes are so authentic and prepared with such care... they are beyond compare. The chef/owner's passion for quality is evident in every aspect of the dining experience. Absolutely loved it. Sona, alone, is a reason to come to Winchester.

Sona Restaurant Review - July 10, 2011

Sona Restaurant - Vote 4 - I've eaten at Sona's since they opened and I've always been a fan. The quantity of food received has definitely declined during the last year or so. I ordered a take-out order of butter chicken and was disappointed by the small portions received for 16.99. I'm used to Indian food in larger cities where quality and quanity never suffered even in the smaller establishments. Even when eating in the restaurant at lunch, there might be 5 or 6 thin slices of chicken in the sauce and just a small portion of rice. They will serve you more rice and unlimited naan upon request to their credit though. It is nice to have quality Indian food in Winchester without having to drive to Loudon county but I find myself going quite infrequently when I remind myself of the value received. I find myself waiting for the weekends when I'm near Loudon county and its environs to eat where portion size and quality are equal. I haven't given up on you Shiv because I recognize quality, but I just don't come nearly as often.

Sona Restaurant - Vote 5 - Absolutely amazing food. My sister and I love spicy food, so the chef offered to increase the heat level and at a 15, it was just right (the scale they offer when you order is 1-10). Everything had great flavor and the staff were all very nice. The best Indian food I have ever had.

Sona Restaurant Review - June 25, 2011

Sona Restaurant - Vote 5 - Went to Sona for the first time for my niece's high school graduation dinner. Shiv was the consummate host, and we let him choose our dinners for us. The food was out of this world! I had previously eaten Indian food in our area of Eastern Pennsylvania and was sorely disappointed. Sona's food made me a lover of all food Indian, and I'm ready to try some new dishes on our next visit to my sister and brother-in-law in Berryville. If you have never been to Sona, get there soon! Mmmmmm....

Sona Restaurant Review - June 24, 2011

Sona Restaurant - Vote 5 - My husband and I have been going to Sona's ever since it opened - we are addicted!! We have to go at least once a month which is hard considering we have one income right now. But, it is so worth it! It is the perfect get away within a 10 mile trip from home. You don't feel like you are in a restaurant in Winchester. The food is fantastic - and I never liked Indian food before I came to Sona. Shiv is awesome - always friendly and encouraging us to try new things. The festival in May and all the special events are real treats to experience. The lunch special is a great deal. For the quality of food and level of service, the prices are just right. Thanks Shiv for your gift and your establishment.Laura and Keith

Sona Restaurant Review - March 27, 2011

Sona Restaurant - Vote 5 - We attended the Holi Dinner last night and it was incredible, per usual Shiv's selections were delicious and the color was a lot of fun. We brought 2 of our friends from out of town to the dinner and they were both impressed with the quality of food, the demeanor of the staff, and the over all experience. This has once again solidified to me that Sona is one of the best restaurants in Winchester. Definitely a personal favorite for our family

Sona Restaurant - Vote 3 - The food is definitely good, although the portions are on the smaller side. The owner is really friendly.I was really disappointed when I ordered take out from them though. I was told 20 minutes, and then had to wait there for an extra 30 minutes (50 minutes total). I was told they had run out of rice.
