Burapa Thai - Vote 5 - This is my favorite place in town for lunch. I love the Pad Thai and Curry Combo, but all the lunch specials are great!!! The service has been wonderful, too.

Burapa Thai - Vote 3 - I've been here several times and like the food. However, the portions seem to get smaller every time I go back.

Burapa Thai - Vote 2 - This place tends toward the inconsistent. Several times the best Thai food we've had, other times disappointing. Changing chefs? Last time was better than average. Had the Numtok appetizer. Marinated beef, salty with fish sauce, sweet and sour with lime juice, garlic, ginger, red onions and scallions. Kind of a grilled beef civiche, left us craving more...yummo!

Tha Bangkok beef and chicken with cashews are a winner also. The chicken tasting smoky from the wok. This last time the Phad Thai was disappointing, soggy noodles and overpoweringly sweet with sugar. "Is this dessert?", asked my wife.

I must agree with the small portions assessment.

Burapa Thai - Vote 3 - Went with my daughter last night for pad see eiw, panang curry, and drunen noodles. The food and service was mediocre. With better options in town, we won't be coming back.

Burapa Thai - Vote 5 - This place gets better every time I go. The atmosphere is nice, but I always feel something is missing. The pad thai and other noodle dishes are excellent. The special crispy fish with a spicy sauce is delicious as is the egglant and ground chicken dish, and the bangkok beef. The appetizers are a bit pricey so we haven't tried them, but the entrees are delicious. They really know their sauces here.

Burapa Thai - Vote 4 - I went here for lunch with my boyfriend and we loved it! We love Thai Winchester, so I was pleasantly suprised to find a place just as good. I have been eating Thai since I was five, so I know good thai when I find it. We tried the lunch specials where you get two entrees for really cheap. The drunken noodles were really good...delicious noodles and really flavorful. The panang was a bit sweet, but it had really good complex flavors. The pad gra prow(thai basil chicken) was really yummy. The Pad Thai was great, a bit sweet, but super flavorful.

The service may have been a bit bad at first, but it has greatly improved. One hard thing is that all these thai places have to have white people work as waiters, and they may not be as knowledgeable about thai food as an thai person(there just aren't enough of them in winchester).

I can't wait to go back for dinner and try more food.

Burapa Thai - Vote 3 - I gave this the same score that I gave at Thai Winchester. On first entering I appreciated the modern minimalist atmosphere. It made me feel like I didn't have to pay more just to enjoy some colorful napkins and fancy art. I actually had some of the best service at Burapa Thai. The waiter was very attentive. He asked me if I knew about Thai food and if I needed any help with the menu. (Commence inside chuckle). I started with an Iced coffee which was a really good. It had a little bit of a chocolate flavor which was unexpected, but quite delicious. It also had too much ice, which made it hard to stir the condensed milk without spilling. We ordered Pad See Ew, Panang, Pad Thai, and Pad Gaprow. First of all, the food here is the freshest I've ever had. The noodles in the pad Thai and Pad See Ew were so soft and delicate they were clearly freshly made. The Pad Thai was sweeter then I've had before. It was different and I kept coming back for bite after bite. The Panang was somewhat forgettable. It was a little sweet and not quite refined enough. The Pad See Ew. while fresh, did not have the flavor to match Thai Winchester's. But Thai Winchester doesn't have anything on Burapa's prices, friendly warm service, or it's killer lunch specials. All and all I'm hoping this town is big enough for two amazing Thai places.

Burapa Thai - Vote 2 - Summary: fails on service; barely passes on food.

I so wanted to Burapa Thai to succeed. I'm afraid that they won't be in business much longer with the product that they are currently providing.

It's sad to see a small restaurant afflicted by the same disease that the chains have: bored servers who pay attention to everything but their tables. The servers would have had to try very hard to give us worse service. The greeting was cold and perfunctory, familiarity with the menu was minimal, not willing to accomodate special requests, playing with cell phone instead of paying attention to tables, bussing tables when they should have been getting drink refills, the list goes on.

The food was also sad. We sampled a wide range of the menu. The quality of ingredients was pretty rough--green beans that should have been thrown out yesterday, pink flannel tomatoes at the height of tomato season, cilantro that had seen better days, etc.

Expertise at cooking was lacking. One dish illustrates the whole gamut of issues: Tom Yum Noodle Soup with Seafood. The broth in this soup should have a bright lemon flavor; ours had a muddy lemon flavor, almost stale, and far too much crushed peanut, almost as if peanut butter had been stirred into the broth. The cilantro on top was half rotten. The two tiny scallops were white hockey pucks, having been cooked forever. Ditto for the three shrimp. The single tiny piece of squid was inedibly tough. And the noodles, wide sen yai, were cooked so long that they were falling apart. So sad to butcher such a wonderful classic soup.

Besides lack of technical proficiency, the dishes were just missing that deft touch that makes Thai cuisine fresh, exciting, and wonderful.

Native Thai would find this cuisine unacceptable; I would think that the owners would too.

It's really a shame to say that we will not be returning.

Burapa Thai - Good food at a good price. Service is improving with every trip back. They have a little something for the adventerous eater to the more faint of heart. Everyone I have taken here has found a new favorite dish.
